Curious as to where this rock 'n' roll evening is taking place? Well, we did say it was co-presented by Commonwealth Properties. We highly encourage you to do some digging because we'll be the first to admit we're in love with these historic properties. Could this party be in a mansion? Maybe. Or in a private members-only club overlooking the Mississippi River Valley? Perhaps. What's life without a little mystery?

Chef Chris Gerstner

Christopher Gerster studied at the New England Culinary Institute in Vermont, then began his career at the notable Restaurant Alma under Alex Roberts, and then at Cafe Levain under Stewart Woodman.

As chefs in the Midwest often do, he ventured East working Connecticut’s finest French brasserie-the Union League Cafe for 3 years, then New York City’s upper-east-side fine dining establishment The Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges. It was then called of Graze, (which, by the way was from a Craig’s List Ad) in Madison, Wisconsin, that brought him back to America’s Heartland and began to distinguish him as a Farm to Table guy.

His love for working with local producers began to grow, and with his newly found fame as a Wisconsin CheeseHead he was the natural candidate for the Red Stag Supper Club; embracing the philosophy of creating relationships and working closely with Minnesota's farmers then cooking just darn good food that would make his mom proud. A Minnesota native, he’s thrilled to be back and a part in the Twin Cities vibrant food scene.

A Finale Performance by Step Rockets

Step Rockets, A Minneapolis quartet, has been around since 2013, but they suddenly found themselves propelled to center stage after their first single amassed over 200,000 spins on Soundcloud from all corners of the world, allowing the band to grab the #1 spot on Hype Machine (far more plays than even the buzziest act on an indie roster like Mexican Summer or Jagjaguwar) and continues to gain international attention.

For guys who list outer space, sacred geometry and alternative medicine as personal interests, their psych-rock-pop sound has landed numerous notable gigs and showcases, including a SXSW showcase where they have gained national attention.

Their music twists psychedelic sounds and modern pop hooks into danceable indie rock. Step Rockets’ blend the raw attitude of the The Clash with the interstellar arrangements of the Flaming Lips, creating a sound that is uniquely dynamic and fun. The group of multi-instrumentalists build layers of EDM, New Wave and Reggae to launch their music into something that is both fresh and mysterious.

DJ Tickle Torture and FooLProoF

Tickle Torture is the sex-pop soundtrack for a new generation of freaks. His first EP, "Spiritual Machete" (2012), feels like catching Justin Timberlake and Prince making out in a dumpster full of broken synthesizers. Feeding on the sweaty energy left from the funk dynasty of his home base in Minneapolis, one man producer, composer, engineer Elliott Kozel delivers his raw, sexual vision of the future of dance music. His chaotic live shows are half-party, half-performance art, and include a full live band, a team of backup dancers, an arsenal of confetti cannons, strobe lights and video projections.

Sound Unseen] is proud to co-present the secret rock 'n' roll cinema portion at the ICONS launch event. As the region's premiere films-on-music festival, this partnership with the Cult Collective makes absolute perfect sense with this show being about fashion icons of rock 'n' roll!

We've curated 4 shorts programs of films where you'll recognize some big names such as Black Flag, Marc Bolan, Suzi Quatro, and David Bowie...but we're going to introduce you to some other iconic rock 'n' rollers you've perhaps never heard of such as Girlschool, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Moby Grape, or Sugarpie Desanto. Whatever your pleasure...we know you'll dig 'em all!
